Keep Your Dreams Alive

Dreams do come true regardless of the stumbling blocks, setbacks and some obvious disadvantages you might have. The exciting thing is that it costs nothing to dream. It costs no amount of money to dream. You have no obligation to apply somewhere or permission from anyone to dream. Your present location, either in prison or a slum is not a limitation on your capacity to dream.

One thing I have realised is that whatever it is that you dream has the potential to become a reality sooner or later, but you have to maintain a significant focus so that they can come to pass. Someone once said that if you have a nice dream when you are asleep, you need to wake up to bring it to pass.

The truth is that I have seen and witnessed dreams - others and mine - come to pass. I have experienced many of my dreams come to pass. And the more I dream, the more possibilities I see, the more hope is revived in my heart, and I will be able to press on.

Nothing is impossible! If you can dream it, I tell you the truth you can achieve it.

A long time ago, when I applied for the American visa, on two occasions, I got denied, and it affected my self-esteem, which made me feel I was not good enough. By the last time, I left the embassy with a resolution that I am going to visit that country as a king, not as a pauper. It took me ten solid years after my last denial. Today, the story is different. During my first visit to the US, I was taken aback for a while. Was this all that there is with all my years of struggle? No doubt, it is a brilliant and beautiful country by every standard, better than what I have experienced and what many are familiar with at this part of the world. But the fact remained, the dream came to pass - that I will go as a king.

What is that dream in your heart? What are those expectations in your heart? You have to begin to pay attention to it. Do not allow the initial setbacks to suffocate your dreams. Do not accept naysayers, dream stealers, and dream killers within your circuit to rob you of your dreams. And you have to pay attention to people like that because they are all around us and are very easy to spot by the kinds of words they speak. Instead, surround yourself with dream makers - those who will help your dreams to come true.

To conclude, I remember many years ago, when broke people called my friends, and I broke; during those years, we would always exchange pleasantries like ‘We will meet in Paris’. Another would reply, ‘Let’s connect in London, I will be coming from New York’. All those times, I doubt if any of us had a spoke of a bicycle, but today, with the privilege of God, we have visited these countries and many others. And it is so amazing how those dreams came to pass - it really costs nothing to talk and dream big things.

So, dear friend, keep your dreams alive. If you can dream it, it is bound to come into reality!.
